CIDA Inc. Visits Tulane University’s SMM Studio Design Team

On December 11–12, 2024, Community In-Power and Development Association Inc. (CIDA) Executive Director Hilton Kelley and team member Michelle Smith visited the Albert and Tina Small Center for Collaborative Design at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.

During this productive meeting, the CIDA team collaborated with the talented SMM Studio community design team to review the progress of designs focused on enhancing outdoor spaces in Port Arthur, TX. These plans aim to address essential community needs, including:


Flood mitigation strategies

Walkable sidewalks for safe pedestrian access

Recreational spaces to promote healthy lifestyles


The innovative designs will help create walkable, flood-resilient outdoor areas that foster recreation and community connectivity in Port Arthur. This collaboration reflects CIDA’s ongoing commitment to advocating for equitable, sustainable improvements in our city.
