Housing Emergency
In the flooding of Hurricane Harvey a large majority of the homes were damaged. Based on the damage many properties suffered, landlords served tenants vacate and even eviction notices. With no more than 2-5 days to get all of their belongings out, some several thousand people were almost instantly homeless.
To shed light on this enormous problem CIDA Inc. called press conference and invited the media to come along while we march on City Hall to get answers from city officials.
Continuous pressure from CIDA Inc, the media and the Federal assistance urged on by NIEHS, prompted the city to set up a tent camp at the Civic Center to provide temporary housing for many.
